2023 promises to be a rich year for FRAC Picardie, whose programming was presented on Friday, January 20, 2023 by Pascal Neveux, director of FRAC Picardie. On the program: exhibitions at the Frac and in the region, new artists in residencies and events close to the public.
This program revisits not only the wealth of its collectionsbut also seeks to reveal the territory, its heritage, its landscapes and the artists who work there. With the permanent ambition to disseminate the art of our time and make it the pedagogy, the FRAC deploys innovative and adapted approaches.
This year, FRAC celebrates its 40th anniversary and for the occasion, the FRAC Picardie offers a new graphic identity in collaboration with the studio of artistic direction and editorial design of The Shelf Company.
This season launch took place in the presence ofÉtienne Stoskopf, Prefect of the Somme, Hilaire Multon, Regional Director of Cultural Affairs, and Pierre Savreux, Vice-President of Amiens Métropole Delegate for Culture and Heritage and was the occasion of the opening of Pirouettes presented until March 25, 2023.
A season with François Olislaeger
After Elsa Abderhamani in 2021, Ulla von Brandenburg in 2022 is François Olislaeger who is the artist associated with FRAC Picardie in 2023. The opportunity to consider with him different formats of meetings, on multiple temporalities, in order to implement a true companionship for a year with the FRAC, its team and its collection but above all and above all with the inhabitants of the region.
François Olislaeger, whose works joined the FRAC collection in 2020, is a multi-faceted artist who is a visual artist, comic book author and press designer (Libération, Le Monde, etc.). This long-term collaboration is envisioned as a residence-laboratory and experimental creations that will be the occasion to realize an infinite history of art, collective and participative.
«Résidence Tremplin»: a device of the DRAC Hauts-de-France
As part of the «Tremplin Residencies» scheme of the DRAC Hauts-de-France, the FRAC Picardie accompanies in 2023 two young artists who live and work in the region, Wolf Blaster and Rachid Bukharta by offering them time for research, professional and public meetings of different formats and temporalities.
This "tailor-made" companionship is an opportunity to accompany them through the design and production phases and to envisage a restitution or presentation of their work during the year.
Pirouettes Exhibition
The exhibition Pirouettes opens the 2023 season at FRAC Picardie from January 20 to March 25, 2023.
Through the exhibition Pirouettes, the 4 designers Baptiste Meyniel, Jean-Simon Roch, Marion Pinaffo and Raphaël Pluvinage, have the common ambition to see their creative process in its different stages of research, design, production, documentation and activation.
This scalable installation has been presented at the Fotokino in Marseille, at the Frac Champagne-Ardenne in Reims and at the Maison pour Tous in Rivery and continues its roaming at the FRAC Picardie.
The FRAC Picardie, created in 1983 and installed in Amiens in the Hauts-de-France region, is the only Frac to have built a public collection around contemporary drawing, the largest in France and certainly on a European scale to date.
2021 marks a turning point for FRAC Picardie, which, under the leadership of its director Pascal Neveux, is embarking on a first artistic and cultural project entitled “What artists tell us about the transformation of the world”, which intends to revisit all of FRAC’s missions for the next three years.
