The Heritage Documentation Centre - Strasbourg Site
The Centre de documentation patrimoniale offers to anyone interested the possibility to consult the documentary collections of the Heritage pole of the DRAC Grand Est - Strasbourg site.
The heritage documentation centre offers:
A specialized scientific and technical fund for the departments of Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin
- reports of archaeological operations;
- archaeological map files;
- excavation documentation;
- the library of the Regional Archaeological Service;
- the library of the Regional Conservation of Historical Monuments;
- documentary records of buildings protected under the Historical Monuments;
- studies related to work on protected buildings;
- specialised periodicals;
- the Denkmalarchiv collection, a graphic and photographic collection created in 1898.
The fund Denkmalarchiv
At the end of XIXe The German administration created a heritage service in the annexed territories of Alsace-Moselle, whose mission was to document the regional archaeological and built heritage.
Very early on, an iconographic collection was created, the Denkmalarchiv, bringing together nearly 60,000 silver photographs and drawings (architectural surveys, watercolours, engravings, etc.), ranging from XVIIIe century to the second half of the XXe century.
Services offered
- support for documentary research in the various funds;
- access to the documentary databases of the DRAC Grand Est and the national databases of the Ministry of Culture;
- on-site consultation;
- the possibility of reproducing documents (scan).
It is accessible by appointment to anyone interested.
