Support for contemporary creation
Support for contemporary creation involves direct assistance to artists (individual assistance for creation and installation or workshop development) ; the 1% artistic; the public commission of works of art and the support of the FRAC in the enrichment of their collections.
> Direct support for artists
The DRAC provides two types of direct assistance, individual assistance for the creation and assistance for the installation or fitting out of workshops. The files are examined by a regular committeeionale, held once a year. It is composed of personalities qualified in contemporary art.
The submission of applications is done in dematerialized form on the national platform "simplified procedures". Your contacts at the DRAC Grand Est are indicated at the bottom of this page.
- Individual start-up aid (AIC)
Their objective is to help artists realize their artistic projects. All areas of contemporary creation can benefit.
They are not intended for publishing a catalogue or a monograph.
The amount of the allowance shall be calculated according to the nature of the project and the expenditure necessary for its implementation, taking into account the means available. They do not exceed €8,000.

- Aids for the installation or fitting out of workshops (AIA)
They allow artists to improve the layout of the workshop they own or rent. This allowance may not exceed 50% of the total amount of work. It does not apply to work in progress.

The purchase of works for the Regional Contemporary Art Funds, the public artistic commission and the 1% artistic are all indirect support mechanisms for artists.
> Regional Contemporary Art Fund (FRAC) purchases
The FRAC’s mission is to "constitute, develop, preserve, disseminate and highlight a collection of contemporary works, based on an artistic and cultural project". By funding the FRAC of the Grand Est region, the DRAC Grand Est and the Conseil régional Grand Est, contribute to the enrichment of the collections of the Regional Contemporary Art Funds of Strasbourg, Reims and Metz.
> Support for creation in the public space
- The 1% artistic
The procedure relating to the obligation to decorate public buildings called "1% artistic" consists in dedicating 1% of the total cost of the HT works of a construction or public extension, to dedicate it to the production of a work of art specially designed for this building.

Public procurement is the manifestation of a will involving the State (mainly the Ministry of Culture and Communication) and various partners (local authorities, public institutions, private partners) to contribute to the enrichment of the public space by the presence of works of art.

- Programme "1 building, 1 work"
Launched in 2015, the program "1 building, 1 work", is part of the support policy of the Ministry of Culture and Communication for contemporary art and young creation. Thirteen major players in the real estate sector have signed the charter "1 building, 1 work", committing to order or acquire a work of art from an artist for any building program to build or renovate.
The goal is to allow as many people as possible to live or work daily in contact with a work of art. More than a thousand works will be created or acquired each year and presented throughout the country.
