Metz-Nancy Academy: presentation of arts and cultural education systems
For the Academy of Metz-Nancy, arts and cultural education (EAC) schemes in schools are the subject of a joint annual call for projects by the Rector and the DRAC Grand Est.
Since 2019, the unifying projects have been at the level of the school or a network of institutions, with cultural structures.
It is built as close as possible to the territories, with the support of local and regional authorities, particularly within the framework of territorial arts and cultural education contracts. It feeds from crossing with the diversity of domains.
The schemes are the subject of an annual call for projects (between April and June each year), which is distributed by the Rectorate. For any intervention by an artist or a cultural professional, it is necessary to rely on a structure subsidized by the DRAC Grand Est.

The unifying projects
The unifying projects allow the institutions to reason more with the artistic and cultural presence.
The unifying project involves at least three classes of the institution in interdisciplinary projects. It may concern one or more schools. It is built as part of the cultural project of structures, including the House for Science. It feeds on meetings in the school and in cultural structures.
- the unifying project to reach the heart of the institution;
- the inter-establishment federating project: for networking on the territory.
The unifying project is built in connection with a cultural structure
The artist, architect, journalist… is to be considered as a researcher, who comes to question the artistic and cultural practices of children and adults who accompany them. Working with professionals in the field of scientific and technological culture is naturally part of this dynamic.
The proposed framework for unifying projects facilitates the crossing of fields, allowing to invent proposals combining scientific and artistic fields, media education and to open up to cross-border within the framework of national and academic priorities.
The unifying project engages at the heart of the classes in a dynamic of interdisciplinary projects, in coherence with the establishment project. It benefits from pedagogical support by the mission officers of the academic delegation to arts and cultural education or the departmental pedagogical advisors arts.

The Cultural Route
Developed in connection with cultural structures, this device allows students to meet works, artists, and to become aware of a practice while discovering a place of diffusion.
5 courses are formalised: Opera route, Current music routes, Choreographic journey, Theatre route (to be seen with each local structure in connection with a show) and the Contemporary Art, proposed by Lorraine Réseau Art Contemporain (LoRA) (learn more on the website of the rectorate).
As each route has its own specificity, it is necessary to find out about the necessary conditions for cultural structures.
Small laboratory or architecture awareness actions
These facilities allow for 10 to 15 hours of intervention by a graduate student in an interdisciplinary project with a class. These small laboratories concern primarily the middle and upper schools, and can be opened to primary schools. The school specifies its educational project.
