As every year the Night of Reading, will have the vocation to celebrate everywhere and for all the pleasure of reading. For 2020, an appointment is scheduled for January 18 under the theme “Sharing”.

The actress, director and director Zabou Breitman will be, for this 4e edition, the sponsor of the event, succeeding Daniel Pennac in 2018 and Bérénice Bejo in 2019.

Zabou Breitman, who recently adapted the novel by Yasmina Khadra, The Swallows of Kabul (Julliard, Pocket reissue), to the cinema, has just given France Inter, in duet with his son Antonin Chalon, a powerful reading of the raw and funny text by Jean-Claude Grumberg, Moman (Actes Sud Papiers). She enthusiastically accepted to be the sponsor of this great festival of books and reading.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture, the event will bring together all stakeholders in the book, culture and education sectors for a great weekend and will offer nearly 6,000 free animations for all audiences (meetings with authors, literary performances, musical readings, literary games, etc.) in libraries and bookstores, but also museums, performance halls, cultural centres, schools and universities, hospitals, prisons, etc.

This year, the event, under the theme of sharing, will go far beyond national borders with the participation of some 30 countries and will prove, if still needed, that all paths lead to reading with the creation of a digital game available on the website and Facebook page of the event and developed, in the form of literary quest, in collaboration with the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), the Public Information Library (BPI), Eureka, the online question and answer service coordinated by BPI, and Ask Mona.
