Launched at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture in 1996, the Semaine de la langue française et de la Francophonie is once again celebrating French in all its diversity and richness of expression. The theme of this edition, "It (d)astonishes!" , invites lovers of the French language to (re)discover and (re)visit mysterious sounds, sometimes unexpected spelling, or etymology.

In this year 2022, the four-hundredth anniversary of his birth, Molière, whose plays still stand out almost four centuries after their creation, will naturally be in the spotlight.

Michel Boujenah, the sponsor of this edition, will give a reading of a tirade of «L'avare» by Molière on the occasion of the traditional French dictation.

For this meeting of speakers of French, everyone will be able, wherever he is, to explore the secrets of the language: eloquence contest, concerts, intergenerational dictations, plays, readings told, or literary meetings will be organized in places as diverse as universities, hospitals, museums, prisons, high schools or retirement homes.

Among the events organized for this occasion, the French-language awareness campaign “Dis-moi dix mots” will once again propose to the school public to play with ten words that illustrate the theme “Ça (d)surprisingly!” and to stage them in a playful way and in all forms, from writing to song, drawing or dance. The projects will be awarded at the end of an award ceremony.

Because a language is not just a means of expression but a way of seeing the world, French has not finished surprising us... and detonate.
