It was with deep sadness that Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, learned of the disappearance of Max Querrien, a prominent figure in the Ministry of Culture where he was director of architecture from 1963 to 1968, under the authority of André Malraux.

Max Querrien’s commitment to architecture and heritage has continued throughout his life, as President of the Caisse nationale des Monuments historiques et des sites (1981-1986), now the Centre des monuments nationaux, of the French Institute of Architecture, or through the works he had devoted to each of these public policies.

Franck Riester salutes the memory of this great elect and servant of the State and sends his deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
