The Minister of Culture pays tribute to the memory of Jean-Luc Félix, president of the association of small rag actors, organizer of the Charleville-Mézières World Puppet Theatre Festival.

His father, Jacques Félix, was the founder of the festival and an inveterate artisan of the puppetry arts, so closely linked to the city of Charleville-Mézières. Passionate about these aesthetics and a teacher at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette from 1990 to 2014, Jean-Luc Félix had logically taken over the presidency of the Association of Small Rag Actors after his father’s death in 2006.

Under his impetus, the festival became biennial, experienced a new breath, a strengthened professionalization and the development of its global and humanistic dimension, praised today by all actors in the sector, well beyond national borders.

His artistic sense and the quality of his teaching have certainly contributed to the recognition and development of the puppet arts, whose great family now mourns one of its most ardent defenders.

Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, sends his sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
