Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, and Hélène Geoffroy, Mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin welcome the nomination on March 25, of the winner of the architectural competition for the creation of the shared equipment «Ville-Campus»: the agency Tectoniques Architectes. Future construction is part of the projects supported by the Recovery Plan in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
The jury made a choice between three high-quality projects with different biases. The teams of the architectural agencies of Rémy Marciano and Stéphane Fernandez also competed.
Equipment in a university continuum
Integrated into the university development plan of the Métropole de Lyon, this equipment meets the need for development of the Vaulx-en-Velin campus, composed in particular of the École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Lyon.
Open to the city, this place will promote meetings and synergies between residents, campus students, local actors, companies, partners of secondary and higher education, allowing them to develop collective projects (workshops, seminars, training courses, cultural events, etc.).
An ambitious project with environmental responsibility and urban transformation
With a sober and functional building, designed in wood structure and a gentle landscaped accompaniment, the selected project perfectly meets environmental challenges and offers a warm and open architecture for this neighborhood equipment.
Its bioclimatic and passive approach, favouring the wood industry and other «bio sourced» materials, by dry assemblies, will be an inspiring model for new ways of building.
The Tectonics Architects agency has partnered with Tectonics Engineers for structure, thermal and BIM management for data modeling, Itinéraire Bis for the landscape part and Arborescence for the wooden structure.
The State and the City of Vaulx-en-Velin have joined forces to finance this major project. Work will begin in fall 2021 for delivery in 2023.
