Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, announces the award of the label «Orchestre national en Région» to the Orchestre de Cannes Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. It becomes the 15thth certified orchestra.
Founded in 1975, the Orchestre de Cannes offers the inhabitants of its territory a rich and diversified programme in both repertoire and concert formats.
This label recognizes the excellent artistic work of the musicians of the orchestra and Benjamin Levy, their musical director since 2016. The Minister of Culture also welcomes the active involvement of the orchestra in the policy of cultural action carried out in its territory and which is tending to grow.
In 2020, the appointment of Jean-Marie Blanchard to the general direction of the orchestra marked a new stage in the dynamics of the orchestra. It is based in particular on the definition of singular axes for the orchestra as the development of music in the image which becomes an essential component of the identity of the orchestra.
The project of the Orchestre de Cannes Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur thus meets the needs of vitality, openness and musical and artistic quality that the State has wished to promote within the scope of the missions and specifications of the label «Orchestre national en Région» released in 2017.
