Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, announces the launch of a new support system for women podcast authors. This call for projects, worth €500,000, aims to support authors in writing or rewriting original sound works requiring extensive research and writing.

The projects, podcasts or radio creations, will benefit from a flat-rate grant of €3,000 to €5,000, which will be awarded after a professional commission’s opinion.

Whether it is its content or its audiences, sound creation has benefited from a tremendous renewal in recent years, driven in particular by the exceptional popularity of podcasts. This success is an unprecedented opportunity for French and French creation.

The report “L'écosystème de l'audio à la demande (podcasts): enjeux de souveraineté, de régulation et de soutien à la création audionnumérique”, presented to the Minister in October 2020 by the General Inspection of Cultural Affairs, Nevertheless, the remuneration potential of authors remains low to date.

Through this call for projects, it is therefore a matter of supporting authors and promoting the diversity and editorial quality of these creations. The projects will be selected in particular with regard to the singular vision they express, whether it is the subject addressed or the stylistic requirements.
