Created in 1980, the Albums des jeunes architectes et paysagistes (AJAP) competition is a promotional tool designed to facilitate young professionals' access to commissions and recognition of the world of architecture and landscape. Organized every two years since 2001, in partnership with the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine and with the support of the Institut Français, this initiative is part of the policy led by the Ministry of Culture in support of cultural and creative sectors.

AJAP rewards projects and career paths that are distinguished by their innovative strength and commitment, as well as those that open up new avenues of reflection on the architecture, the landscape of tomorrow and respond to the challenges of ecological transition.

The winners, selected by a jury of professionals, will benefit for two years of a campaign of valorization: travelling exhibition in France and abroad, publication, highlighted on the website of the Ministry of Culture, organization of meetings in France and Europe with the public and project owners, participation in trade fairs.

The rules of the competition evolve to take into account:

  • the average age of access of architects to liberal practice;
  • the diversity of the professions available to professionals upon obtaining the State architectural diploma, even before they are authorised to exercise project management in their own name.

The 2023 competition is thus open to young professionals aged 37 and under on 31 December 2023, with no nationality requirement. It is open to architects and landscape designers who have, in France, as designers in their own name, at least one project winning a competition or a project carried out or in progress and, for the first time, holders of a State diploma in architecture working as employees or contractors.

Registration for the new session of the Young Architects and Landscape Architects Albums will be open on the website of the Ministry of Culture from May 10.
