Initiated by the Ministry of Culture in 2016, the National Days of Architecture will take place on 14, 15 and 16 October 2022, throughout France. The aim of these days is to (re)introduce the general public to architecture and its professions, whether they are major emblematic projects or everyday constructions, through a programme rich in more than 1,200 activities City walks, debates, film screenings, exhibitions, site visits, open houses…

This 7e edition will be placed under the theme: «Architectures to inhabit». A beautiful way to appreciate the qualities of everyday architectures to better understand how architects design our living places.

In particular, the health crisis has highlighted the importance of living in pleasant housing where everyone can flourish and enjoy privacy and shared spaces. Access to nature, or at least to the outdoors, light, proximity to shops, or places of conviviality in one’s building or neighbourhood, have become essential elements closely linked to improving the quality of life.

This year, the National Architecture Days will focus on projects based on bio-based, more environmentally friendly materials, which illustrate the new challenge that architects are facing today: Building more energy efficient and greener.

For the 4e year, the operation Look up! » - in partnership with the Ministries of Culture and National Education and Youth - invites students, from kindergarten to grade 12, to leave the classroom on Friday, October 14 to learn how to read architecture and read the landscape.

This edition will also highlight the 97 projects labelled as part of the Call for Expressions of Interest

“Committed to the quality of tomorrow’s housing”, launched by the Ministries of Culture and Housing in 2021.

Finally, the «To Live» days, organized by the magazine Architecture À Vivre and the association 1, 2, 3 Architect, will return to make discover architectural realizations during guided visits in the company of architects or builders.
