Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, today welcomed the signing of the Charter «For Women in the Media» (PFDM), initiated by the eponymous association created by Françoise Laborde and Laura Lemens Boy, and directed by Laurence Bachman and Bouchera Azzouz.

The PFDM association brings together women in the media and has been promoting parity and real equality between women and men in this field for seven years. Faced with the daily observation of sexual harassment and sexist acts, the association has decided to mobilize media companies around a charter of good conduct “I inform, I act, I share, I commit”.

This Charter, which receives the support of Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, and Marlène Schiappa, Secretary of State to the Prime Minister responsible for Equality between Women and Men and the Fight against Discrimination, was signed today, at the Ministry of Culture, by 18 representatives of major media companies (radio, television, production houses and audiovisual agencies):

Yves Bigot (TV5 Monde), Pierre-Antoine Capton (Mediawan), Véronique Cayla (ARTE), Delphine Ernotte (France Télévisions), Mercedes Erra (Havas Worldwide), Hélène Etzi (Disney Channel EMEA & Disney TV France), Bibiane Godfroid (Newen), Laurent Guimier (Europe 1), Serge Laroye (OCS), Gilles Pélisson (Groupe TF1), Maxime Saada (Groupe Canal+), Maryam Salehi (NRJ group), Marie-Christine Saragosse (France Médias Monde), Nicolas de Tavernost (Groupe M6), Christophe Thoral (Lagardère Active), Laurent Vallet (INA), Sibyle Veil (Radio France), Alain Weill (NextRadioTV).

Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, reaffirmed the constant commitment of the Ministry of Culture in this area: Television, radio, and all media are openings to culture. They have a duty to set an example. The Ministry of Culture is strongly committed to issues of diversity, equality, and the fight against all forms of discrimination and harassment. More than just a construction site, it is a fight we must fight for our society.”

The signing of the Charter was followed by the presentation of the PFDM Annual Trophies to five laureates: Lisa Azuelos (Fiction Award), Camille Bidermann-Roizen (Inspiring Woman Award), Laurence Bloch (Media Woman of the Year Award), Yasmina Jaafar (Popular Feminism Award) and Claire Lajeunie (documentary award), were thus praised for their work, their career, and their commitment to promoting the place of women in society.
