The generalization of the Culture pass for all 18-year-olds across the territory, launched on May 21 by the President of the Republic, met with great success. Since then, more than 520,000 users have registered on the app and made more than 2.3 million bookings. A total of 680,000 18-year-olds are now using the Culture pass, with the addition of young people from the 14 experimentation departments. At the same time, more than 10,000 cultural stakeholders are offering Culture Passes.

After this successful launch, the Simplified Joint Stock Company (SAS) Pass Culture, in charge of this scheme, will now work on the sustainable integration of the Culture Pass in the cultural landscape of our country:

  • By encouraging the greatest number of cultural operators throughout the territory to formulate new proposals, with editorial offers,
  • Striving to maintain the dynamic of youth registration, with special attention to young people who are furthest removed from the cultural offer;
  • Finally, by implementing the decision of the Government to open to all students, from the fourth class, access, first collective, then individual, to the Culture pass.

To begin this new stage, the President of the Republic has appointed, on the proposal of the Government, Mr. Sébastien Cavalier as President of the SAS pass Culture, as of 1 Januaryer september 2021. Mr. Cavalier began his career at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and later served as director of the Tony Garnier Urban Museum in Lyon. He also worked as a cultural attaché at the French embassy in China. Since 2012, Mr. Cavalier has been Director of Cultural Action for the City of Marseille. He was also, until July 15, president of the association of directors of cultural affairs of major cities and agglomerations of France.

Mr. Cavalier succeeds Damien Cuier, who chaired SAS pass Culture since July 2019 and whose action and commitment Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin welcomes.

In addition, Valérie Zenatti is appointed President of the Strategic Committee of SAS pass Culture. Author of novels and books especially for youth, prize of the book Inter 2015, Ms.Zenatti is also translator and screenwriter. The Strategic Committee, which gives a large role to civil society actors, is the governance body in charge of proposing the strategy, monitoring its implementation and evaluating the results of the Culture pass.

Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin would like to thank Isabelle Giordano who held these positions until last January and Gilles Duffau, acting chair of the Strategic Committee since that date.
