A sponsorship agreement to restore the Luxor obelisk located at Place de la Concorde was signed on October 27, 2021 between the Ministry of Culture, owner of the obelisk, and Kärcher, a cleaning company, a long-time patron and who has developed significant expertise in the restoration of historic monuments.

The restoration of this element of the heritage given to France in 1829 by the viceroy of Egypt Mehémet-Ali was thus the object of a patronage of competence.

Construction began on November 15, 2021. The restoration work, carried out under the project management of the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) of Île-de-France and under the project management of the chief architect of historical monuments François Chatillon, start in January 2022 and should be completed by the following June.
