The President of the Republic has renewed for 3 years the mandate of Olivier Mantei to the direction of the Théâtre national de l'Opéra-Comique during the Council of Ministers of June 24, 2020, on the proposal of Franck Riester, Minister of Culture.

Since 2015, Olivier Mantei, a daring programmer and accompanist of artists, has brought a new lease of life to the institution and has been a success with a growing public. Under his direction, with the creation of the «new Troupe Favart», the Opéra-Comique now accompanies both consecrated artists and young rising stars. This troupe is federated around a program consisting of the core repertoire of the Opéra-Comique and also contemporary works that are the subject of an ambitious policy of commissions.

By initiating numerous co-productions and collaborations with opera houses in France and around the world, Olivier Mantei has evolved the modes of lyric production and gained international artistic recognition.

With the Maîtrise Populaire, born from a reflection on pedagogical innovation and active learning methods, Olivier Mantei has developed an innovative artistic, educational and social teaching project. He will continue to pursue his mission of developing audiences.

Olivier Mantei will continue his mission to make the Théâtre national de l'Opéra-Comique a lyrical theatre that meets the challenges of the 21st century.
