Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, takes note of the decision of the board of directors of the association for the promotion of cinema to present his collective resignation (Academy of Arts and Techniques of Cinema).
' This private-law institution is not publicly funded and enjoys an independence that must be preserved. Its governance must be guided by democratic functioning and demands for openness, transparency, parity and diversity. This renewed governance must make it possible to represent French cinema in all its aesthetics and diversity in order to allow the Academy to continue to embody its influence.
In this period of transition, I asked the National Film Centre to accompany the Academy for the drafting of the new statutes of the association, in consultation with the professionals concerned and in compliance with these principles ».
