Created in 2017, the thesis prize «Valois» young researchers, young researchers, distinguishes doctoral theses for their quality, their originality and their essential contribution to cultural policies conducted by the Ministry of Culture.

It is part of the Department’s research strategy, which aims to contribute to the sharing of knowledge and the dissemination of cultural research results to society and decision-makers.

The «Valois» thesis prize encourages doctoral students for their work in the field of cultural research, whatever the disciplines and cultural fields: heritage, creation, media and cultural industries, and languages of France. This prize is an aid to the first publication of the doctoral thesis or to the translation of a doctoral thesis already published.

For 2017, the awards are given to doctoral dissertations on cultural policies in the following three categories:

  • Access to culture, transmission, arts and cultural education;
  • Culture and social cohesion, territories and sustainable development;
  • Creation, creativity, cultural innovation.

These three categories reflect the priorities defined by the Minister of Culture.

The awards will be presented to the winners on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 2:30 pm at the Ministry of Culture.

The winning theses were to be written in French and supported between 1er January 2016 and June 30, 2017, by candidates up to 35 years of age at the time of the defense.
