Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, in full agreement with Gil Avérous, Mayor of Châteauroux, François Bonneau, President of the Centre-Val de Loire Region, Serge Descout, President of the Departmental Council of Indre, and Michel Fouassier, President of Équinoxe, gives its approval to the appointment of Jérôme Montchal to the direction of Équinoxe, on the unanimous proposal of the jury meeting on 17 June 2019.

In Jérôme Montchal’s project for Équinoxe, theatre, dance, circus and music, the stage will be shared in a program that will welcome a large audience. The cinema will regularly find resonances with the proposals of the live show.

Two artists will be associated for three seasons, the choreographer Cécile Loyer and the author, director and actor Hugues Duchêne for an artistic permanence combining aesthetics and generations.

Jérôme Montchal intends to implement his project in partnership with local stakeholders with the objective, through shared expertise, to build a network of proximity and address all populations.

Since 2013, Jérôme Montchal has been directing the 3T, a national interest stage in Châtellerault. He was previously director of culture for the cities of Bar-le-Duc, Saumur and Châlons-en-Champagne. He will take up his duties on 1 September 2019.

Jérôme Montchal succeeds François Claude, whose minister, with Gil Avérous, François Bonneau and Serge Descout, wishes to commend the remarkable commitment to the management of this structure since its opening in 1994.
