For the fifth year, the Ministry of Culture is organizing National Architecture Days on October 16, 17 and 18, 2020. Their objective is to familiarize the general public with the challenges of architecture and provide them with keys to understanding this architecture that shapes territories.

These days will be an opportunity for those involved in the dissemination of architecture to present demonstrations cancelled in the spring due to the health crisis.

The National Architecture Days, with a rich program of urban tours, debates, film screenings, exhibitions, site visits, workshops for young audiences, open houses… The aim is to be an essential moment of democratization where everyone appropriates the space of his daily life and finds the opportunity to meet the professional actors of this discipline. In 2019, 1,260 events were organized across the country.

Architecture, an art of everyday life

At a time when we are wondering about the world of tomorrow, architecture occupies an essential place in the construction of our future.

Thus, for this 2020 edition, the National Architecture Days will honour this architecture of everyday life, in and around which we evolve every day and which develops our horizons.

Public facilities, collective housing, individual houses, rehabilitation or extension operations, industrial and commercial premises or urban and landscaping: it is this daily architecture that illustrates the 18 regional posters of the event. As many places as curious and walkers are invited to discover.

Architecture networks mobilized

For three days, the National Days of Architecture, coordinated in the regions by the regional directorates of cultural affairs, brought together many actors from the field, public and private, engaged in the culture and politics of the city around the issues of contemporary architecture.

During these National Architecture Days, it is also a matter of discovering these networks that allow architecture to shine, by organizing the meeting with architecture and especially its professions.

These meetings will be possible in particular through the continuation of the partnership with the National Council of the Order of Architects, which encourages architects to participate in various forms, including inviting the public to their agencies.

Look up! , a day dedicated to school students

Fruit of the collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of National Education and Youth, the "Raise your eyes!" , initiated in 2019, addresses young people to promote access to quality arts and cultural education and helps young people to become aware of the environment around them. Organized on Friday, October 16, 2020, this day will be an opportunity for school children, from kindergarten to grade 12, to leave classes to learn to read architecture, to decipher the landscape, to decipher the city and the countryside.

The 2020 National Architecture Days program will be available online during the summer at
