Françoise Nyssen, Minister of Culture, has appointed Marion Hislen as Delegate for Photography in the Directorate General for Artistic Creation. In this position, Marion Hislen will maintain an ongoing dialogue with artists and professionals in the sector and will give a strong impetus to the State’s policy in the field of photography, combining creation, heritage, dissemination and amateur practices. She will work closely with artists on all the problems they encounter, in close collaboration with the Heritage Branch and the Media and Cultural Industries Branch.

Marion Hislen is a curator specialized in photography, graduated from a DESS in sociology. In 2011, she founded the Circulation(s) festival, which promotes young European photography and attracts more than 50,000 visitors each year. Meanwhile, from 2011 to 2015, she directed cultural action in the book and photography sectors at Fnac and managed their photographic collection. In 2005, she founded Fetart, an association for the promotion of young photographers, following the organization of the exhibition Paris-Beijing, the first retrospective in France dedicated to contemporary Chinese art. She has organized numerous exhibitions, notably at the Centquatre as part of the festival, and in Arles during the Rencontres. She has discovered many artists now recognized on the international scene. In 2017, she was appointed Artistic Director of the Rencontres Photographiques du 10e (Paris) and participates in many juries and projects of photographers.
