On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, Jacqueline Gourault, Minister of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Local Authorities, and Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, launched in Fontainebleau this Saturday, September 21, 2019 the call for projects “Reinventing Heritage”.
Led by Philippe Augier, Mayor of Deauville, as part of his mission entrusted by the Prime Minister concerning the tourism development of France’s heritage, it is intended to accompany communities to offer a second life to their heritage left vacant.
Sedan Castle – transformed into a hotel complex – , Hangar Y in Meudon – converted into an event space – and the Quartier des Héronnières de Fontainebleau are emblematic of this ambition.
The call for projects must make it possible to select 10 sites of heritage or architectural value and support their rehabilitation in hotel, cultural, event or third-party projects.locations, by facilitating the meeting of public and private interests through an engineering fund worth €1 million.
This fund, announced at the inter-ministerial committee on tourism on May 17, 2019, is the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion and relations with local authorities, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, and the Bank of Territories. It is co-financed by the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Local and Regional Authorities. Atout France will assist local authorities with project management.
