The next edition of the European Archaeology Days will take place from Friday 17 June (day dedicated to school audiences) to Sunday 19 June 2022.

Every year, the European Archaeology Days (JPOs) invite the public to explore the past, from the oldest to the newest.

On this occasion, more than a thousand events are proposed throughout France: exceptional opening of excavation sites, villages, educational and fun activities, meetings with researchers, visits to laboratories, exhibitions, screenings…

From excavation sites to museums and laboratories, archaeologists are mobilizing to share their knowledge, expertise, professions and discoveries with all audiences.

Since 2019, the days have opened in Europe: 26 countries participated in the 2021 edition.

The objectives of the JPOs are to sensitize the citizens to the richness of the archaeological heritage and the necessity of its preservation, to attract new audiences, to value the whole operating chain of the archaeology «from the excavation to the museum» and to share knowledge between archaeologists and citizens.

Since its creation, the Journées de l'archéologie has benefited from the partnership of the ARTE chain, which is once again devoting an exclusive programme to archaeology on Saturday 18 June.

The European Archaeology Days are led by the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP) under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture.

The whole program is to be found HERE.
