Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, welcomes the appointment of Johanna Malangré to the musical direction of the Orchestre de Picardie. She became the second musical director of a French permanent orchestra and took up her duties in 2022.

Johanna Malangré’s project proposes an innovative vision of the territorial implantation of an orchestra and the democratization of music. Beyond the quality of the conductor’s direction, her approach to repertoires, forms of concerts and public relations was unanimously accepted by the members of the selection committee and the musicians.

A young German conductor, Johanna Malangré has distinguished herself in particular as assistant conductor of the Cologne chamber orchestra and guest conductor of the orchestra of the Hungarian National Opera, the orchestra of the Royal Opera of Versailles or the Munich Symphony Orchestra. She has been the Musical Director of the Hidalgo Festival Orchestra since 2019 and will conduct the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Collegium Novum Zürich during the 2020/2021 season.

This appointment marks a new impetus for the Orchestre de Picardie.
