On the occasion of the Ambassadors' Conference, and in the wake of the Strategic Committee for the Export of Cultural and Creative Industries (ICC) on 11 April 2019, Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, on August 29, 2019, presented the strategy to support CCI internationally, during the session “Diplomacy for Cultural and Creative Industries”.
While the President of the Republic announced the holding, in the autumn, of Estates General of the cultural and creative industries and the creation of a strategic committee of industry for the ICC, the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs affirmed his willingness to “to take a decisive step in mobilizing the Quai d’Orsay to export cultural industries.” He entrusted a “ICC priority mission” to 37 ambassadors including the countries of residence, identified in connection with the Ministry of Culture and representatives of the professional sectors, have strong development and export potential for French CCIs. Ambassadors are expected to provide ministers with an action plan for the development of CCI by the end of the year.
The Minister of Culture recalled the growing importance of the economic weight of the CCIs, which carry French creativity and innovation around the world: “We must step up our efforts to support and support the structuring of this sector, and through it our artists and creators.” The CCI represent today a major challenge for the competitiveness, attractiveness and development of the French economy. They are also one of the main tools of influence in the world, by participating in the dissemination of culture, expertise, our cultural model and our language.
