On the proposal of Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, Hervé Lemoine is reappointed as Director of National Furniture and Manufactures of Gobelins, Beauvais, Savonnerie and National Lace Workshops, effective February 12, 2021.

The Minister commends the work done by Hervé Lemoine during his first mandate, which allowed the institution to be, more than ever, a pillar of the Ministry’s action in favour of crafts, decorative arts and design.

The institution has thus established itself as a major supporter of the ecosystem of design and crafts.

The Mobilier National has established several emblematic partnerships: with the Institut National des Métiers d'Art, the Paris Design Week, the FIAC, the Design Parade of the Villa Noailles...  Resolutely focused on young creation, the Mobilier national is also a founding member of the Métiers d'art et du design – Manufacture des Gobelins campus.

Over the past three years, the Mobilier national has been particularly present on the French and international cultural scene: the richness of its creations has for the first time been offered to the general public with the opening in 2018 of its reserves, the organization of numerous exhibitions, the publication of several inventories of its collections, and the putting online of these on the digital portal «MN Lab» accessible to all.

This second mandate should allow Hervé Lemoine to pursue this policy of openness and outreach of the arts and design professions. In a complex context, the Mobilier national will have to position itself as an engine of the revival in favour of the crafts that mesh the French territory.  Its mission to support French excellence and its role as a design office to support designers in their responses to new needs will also have to be developed.  Finally, Hervé Lemoine will have to prefigure and carry out the statutory transformation of the establishment.
