On the proposal of the Minister of Culture, Hervé Lemoine was appointed to the National Furniture Directorate in the Council of Ministers on 24 January 2018.

On the proposal of Françoise Nyssen, Minister of Culture, Hervé Lemoine was appointed to the National Furniture Directorate in the Council of Ministers on 24 January 2018. He will take up his duties on 12 February 2018.

Hervé Lemoine, born in 1961, holds a bachelor’s degree in history and geography, a degree in advanced studies in contemporary history and political science. A former lecturer at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris, Hervé Lemoine is a general curator of heritage and has been director of the Musée des Monuments français. Since 2010, he has held the position of Director, in charge of the Archives de France, within the Directorate-General of Heritage of the Ministry of Culture.

The Mobilier national et manufactures des Gobelins, de Beauvais et de la Savonnerie, a department with national competence of the Ministry of Culture, is responsible for creating textile art and contemporary furniture, to perpetuate and transmit the techniques of crafts, to maintain, restore and preserve the national collections which it has the custody of and to ensure the furnishing of the presidential residences and the high administrations of the State. It brings together the creation and restoration workshops of the Gobelins and the Savonnerie (sites of Paris, Beauvais, Lodève and Aubusson) as well as the lace workshops of Alençon and Puy.
