The Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, announces that the State will continue to guarantee against the Covid-19 risk the filming of film and audiovisual works, as well as the filming of flux emissions, until the end of 2021.
Announced by the President of the Republic on May 6, 2020, two funds were created to cover all filming as of June 1, 2020, in the absence of coverage of the Covid risk by the private insurance market. One, managed by the CNC, allows, since May 2020, to guarantee the filming of heritage works. The other, created by the decree of 30 December 2020 and managed by the DGMIC, makes it possible to guarantee the shooting of flow programs.
The guarantee fund for the shooting of films and audiovisual works is extended until 31 December 2021.
The compensation fund for flow programmes is being extended until 31 October 2021 due to the European regulatory framework in which it operates. It could be extended until 31 December 2021 in the event of a change in this framework.
France was the first country to set up a guarantee fund for the shooting of heritage works, followed in particular by Belgium in July 2020, the United Kingdom in July 2020, Germany in September 2020, Quebec in October 2020.
With this extension, many important projects can be secured and built.
