Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, in full agreement with the City of Saint-Etienne, the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Regional Council, the Conseil Départemental de la Loire and the Conseil Départemental de la Haute-Loire, has decided to extend until 1er November 2020 the deadline during which artists can submit their candidacy for the direction of the Comédie de Saint-Etienne, national drama centre and school of drama.

The Comédie de Saint-Etienne is today one of the spearheads of French theatre policy. Founded in 1947 by Jean Dasté, it bears the living legacy of dramatic decentralization. Following the appointment of Arnaud Meunier as head of MC2: Grenoble, the public authorities have launched a call for applications for the renewal of its management.

In view of the small number of applications received, in particular women, the State and local and regional authorities are not in a position to propose a balanced pre-selection in terms of parity and solidity of artistic careers.

Convinced that this imbalance does not reflect today’s creation in the diversity of its talents, and that such recruitment must necessarily include the examination of a large number of quality applications, It has been decided to extend the period for the submission of the nomination papers until 1er november 2020.
