As announced on September 20, 2021, the Government has decided to create financial assistance for freelance journalists who have experienced a decrease in activity due to the health crisis.

Professional organizations played a key role in determining the parameters of this aid, the amount of which is adapted to the situation of each freelance journalist and the number of applications received. A platform dedicated to filing applications was set up on September 30.

During a first campaign and a supplementary campaign, losses in freelance income between 2019 and 2020 were offset.

A new campaign is launched: from May 16, 2022 and until July 15, 2022, freelance journalists who have suffered a drop in revenues between 2019 and 2021 will be able to apply for financial support, subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions laid down by the decree of 10 September 2021, as amended by the decree of 23 December 2021 and providing exceptional assistance to freelance journalists who have experienced a decrease in activity due to the Covid-19 crisis ».

Applicants will be informed at the end of July 2022 of the amount of assistance that will be allocated to them and paid in August 2022.

Applications are submitted on an online platform, available at: https://aide-pigistes-covid.fr

A helpline (+33 2 97 87 25 52) was also set up.
