Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, was saddened to learn of the passing of Jacqueline Caurat, television presenter, host and producer.

A pioneer Speakerine, she became the official presenter of the French Broadcasting and Television (RTF), then the only television channel, on the occasion of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.

A star of the small screen from the 1950s to the 1980s, she hosted children’s programs and designed youth programs. Passionate about philately, she produced and animated, for two decades, magazines dedicated to it. She also wrote various books on the subject, popularizing this art that was so dear to her.

Familiar face of the small screen, she also participated in the beginnings of Belgian and Luxembourg television. The «Ondas» award gave her the best European presenter.

Jacqueline Caurat was an officer of the Order of Merit.

The Minister of Culture extends her deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of this pioneer of French television.
