I welcome the appointment of Fabrice Fries as President and Chief Executive Officer of Agence France-Presse, after an open procedure that allowed six candidates to run, and two of them to be selected by the selection committee.

Fabrice Fries' project for the future of Agence France-Presse has the ambition of taking a new step to meet the challenge of digital technology and international development in a competitive environment where quality information is increasingly confronted with attempts to manipulate information. Agence France-Presse is and must remain a model for independent, reliable and comprehensive information that is a reference throughout the world.

Fabrice Fries, a 58-year-old referendum adviser at the Court of Auditors, has extensive experience in the press and communication sector in various French companies of international scope. He also developed a European experience in the cabinet of Jacques Delors, then President of the European Commission.

I salute the work done by Emmanuel Hoog during the eight years of his presidency, during which he, among other things, was able to take the turn in the development of video and developed the commercial offer.
