Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, in full agreement with Michel Moine, Mayor of Aubusson, Valérie Bertin, President of the Communauté de communes Creuse Grand Sud, Valérie Simonet, President of the Conseil départemental de la Creuse, Alain Rousset, President of the Regional Council of Nouvelle Aquitaine, and Marie Combes and Benoîte Doazan, Co-Chairs of the Théâtre Jean Lurçat, approve the appointment of Christine Malard as Director of the Théâtre Jean Lurçat, Scène nationale d'Aubusson, on the unanimous proposal of the jury meeting on 26 November 2020.

Christine Malard has been Secretary General of the Théâtre Jean Vilar de Vitry-sur-Seine since 2015. She was previously director of the Théâtre Le Coléo and in charge of cultural affairs in Pontcharra (Isère), director of the Institut français de Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso and director of the Alliance française de Hangzhou in China.

Writing this sentence by Édouard Glissant, « Act in your place, think with the world » Highlighting her project, Christine Malard envisages a multidisciplinary program of works that speak of the world, placed under the sign of diversity, aesthetics and imaginations. This programming will retain its full place in theatre while increasing that of dance, music and puppetry. A significant part of the proposed works will be aimed at children and young people. In an effort to reach all the inhabitants of the territory, several shows will criss-cross the hollowed-out roads before coming to Aubusson.

Three artistic companies will be associated with his project. Artists residing in Creuse, those who emerge as the most confirmed, will be helped in their creative work and the dissemination of their works beyond regional borders.

A partnership with the Festival des Francophonies de Limoges will make it possible to welcome foreign francophone artists through the co-production and hosting of three shows. The project undertaken with the Maison Maria Casarès d'Alloue, « Face of youth in Europe ” will be continued. The festival On the verge of risk » will become annual and announce a summer season dedicated to street arts and circus.

Christine Malard intends to implement her project in a collaborative spirit and in a way of creative dialogue with the many actors of the Creusois territory, communities, associations, structures working in the cultural field or in other fields, with the ambition of experimenting new practices related to the specificity of the rural territory and the requirement to include all inhabitants.

She succeeds Gérard Bono who has been director of the Théâtre Jean Lurçat since 2002 and whose Minister wishes to commend the constant demand and commitment at the service of artists and creation, and their meeting with all populations.
