Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, and Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy and Finance, welcome the decision of the Supervisory Board of ARTE France to appoint Bruno Patino as Chairman of the Management Board of the company as of 5 July 2020.

Bruno Patino will succeed Véronique Cayla whose effective and committed action at the head of ARTE France since 2011 is unanimously welcomed. Together with the channel’s German partners, Véronique Cayla was able to successfully launch ARTE’s editorial relaunch, based on the original creation and the increasingly marked adaptation of its offerings to new digital uses. This strategy has resulted in a significant increase in the channel’s audiences in France, all media combined. Véronique Cayla has also played a decisive role in ARTE’s European development, notably through the dissemination of its programmes in four new languages since 2015 (English, Spanish, Polish and Italian).

Franck Riester and Bruno Le Maire would like to express their gratitude to Véronique Cayla for her remarkable work to meet the challenges of editorial excellence, cultural democratization, Digital transition and European deployment that will remain at the heart of ARTE’s challenges in the coming years.

Bruno Patino has been a well-known expert in the field of audiovisual media, especially the public, for many years and has held high positions in the media sector: print media (Vice-President of the Executive Board of the Le Monde Group), radio (Director of France Culture), television (Director General of Programmes of France Télévisions) - sharpening on each of these occasions both the audacity of its editorial proposals and its understanding of the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.

Editorial Director of ARTE France since 2015, Bruno Patino will focus, in his new role as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, on nurturing his identity based on time, distance and depth, and to make ARTE the facilitator of the emergence of a European audiovisual landscape, in a flexible and pragmatic approach based on the realization of concrete projects.
