In agreement with Alain Rousset, President of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region and Emile-Roger Lombertie, Mayor of Limoges, Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, has approved the proposal to appoint Aurélie Van Den Daele as director of the Union Theatre, Limousin National Drama Centre (Limoges).

Trained at the Conservatoire de Clermont-Ferrand and the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris, Aurélie Van Den Daele has been a member of the Deug Doen Group since 2007, its identity as a director mobilizing many performers and confronting the big stages. Associate artist in several theatres, such as the Théâtre National de Bordeaux en Aquitaine, the Théâtre des Ilets in Montluçon and the Théâtre de l'Aquarium, she regularly works at drama schools.

Aurélie Van Den Daele wants to make the Théâtre de l'Union a delicate ecosystem inhabited by artists who place ecology and living things as the main engines of creation. It is in this spirit that she intends to stage a true saga around the «World Forest» that could be found in the dramatic center but also in the natural spaces of the Limousin territory and more generally of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Alice Laloy, Elsa Granat, Gurshad Shaheman and Charlotte Lagrange will be at his side to make the Union Theatre a boiling place and to inject a plural dynamic, conducive to exchange. Artistic diversity will also be reflected in the theatre’s programming, which will focus on bringing culture closer to those most distant from it, and in particular youth.

Aurélie Van Den Daele will also take over the direction of the Academy of the Union, a higher school of drama that she imagines as an initiatory and laboratory place, and as an extension of the theatre, an echo chamber.
