Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, has decided to approve the appointment of Stéphanie Thomas-Bonnetin as director of the current music scene of Rennes L'Antipode MJC, in agreement with the representatives of the association L'Antipode MJC, the Regional Federation of MJC of Brittany, the City of Rennes, the Departmental Council of Ille-et-Vilaine and the Regional Council of Brittany.

Stéphanie Thomas-Bonnetin’s project for the Antipode MJC is part of the spirit and the dynamic of the current project, which strongly articulates the values of popular education and the ambition of an artistic and cultural project certified by the State, closest to the inhabitants.

Based on new premises combining current music activities, the MJC and a library, Stéphanie Thomas-Bonnetin offers programming reflecting a diversity of styles, while supporting the hybridization and transversality of the arts and the creation of young audiences. It wishes to promote the dissemination of artists from the regional scene, but also to develop the programming of artists of national or international scope, by strengthening ties and cooperation. This new space will also allow him to develop the reception of artists in residence and thus support new innovative creations, inscribing themselves at the intersection of genres and aesthetics.

Stéphanie Thomas-Bonnetin was director of Ferarock (Fédération des radios associatives musiques actuelles) from 2002 to 2008. Since then she has been coordinator of professional cooperation within the Fedelima (Federation of Current Music Venues). She also chaired the UFISC (Union d'intervention des structures culturelles) and the European network of current music venues and festivals Live DMA.

Stéphanie Thomas-Bonnetin will take up her duties on 1er february 2021. She succeeds Thierry Ménager, whose Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin welcomes the exemplary commitment that has made it possible to develop the singular project of L'Antipode MJC, right up to the doors of the new equipment which is scheduled to open at the end of next year.
