Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, in full agreement with Gérard Caudron, Mayor of Villeneuve d'Ascq, and Xavier Bertrand, President of the Regional Council of Hauts-de-France, has approved the appointment of Marie Didier as director of La Rose des Vents - national stage Lille Métropole Villeneuve d'Ascq, on the unanimous proposal of the jury gathered on 15 October 2018 under the chairmanship of Sabine Oriol.
Multidisciplinary, Marie Didier’s project focuses on the renewal of artistic languages, on the crossroads between the disciplines of live performance but also of literature and cinema. It offers a plurality of views and places itself under the sign of diversity and openness to the world, in the image of the festival NEXT of which La Rose des Vents was one of the instigators and which remains this symbol of collaborative project on the scale of a transboundary territory.
In support of these multiple artistic proposals, supported notably by the artists associated with her project, Marie Didier wants to engage the Rose des Vents to address a diversity of audiences and territories by implementing several axes of action: give a significant place to creations for children and youth in a program that encourages family outings, encourage participatory creations by relying on artists engaged in this practice, develop programming outside the walls and time for reflection on the transformations of the world. All these will be based on partnerships with many actors in the cultural, educational, economic and social fields of the territory.
Marie Didier, Assistant Director of the National Scene of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines since 2004, was previously director and development manager of the theatre company “L'Entreprise” and then director of the National Scene of Dieppe.
She succeeds Didier Thibaut, whose minister would like to commend the remarkable action he has taken in the direction of La Rose des Vents by making, among other things, an international reference scene.
