On the proposal of Marie-Christine Dumas, President of the Board of Directors, and after the unanimous opinion of the jury, Françoise Nyssen, Minister of Culture, gives her approval to the appointment of Damien Godand to the management of the national scene of Bayonne-Sud Aquitain, in agreement with Jean-René Etchegaray, Mayor of Bayonne, Claude Olive, Mayor of Anglet, Francis Gonzalez, Mayor of Boucau, Jean-François Irigoyen, Mayor of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Alain Rousset, President of the Regional Council of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Jean-Jacques Lasserre, President of the Departmental Council of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

Damien Godet has been an administrator of the Avignon Festival since 2014. He was previously director of the Atelier à spectacles stage in Vernouillet (Eure-et-Loir), then of the Cherbourg national scene and general manager of the Perpignan national scene.

Damien Godet’s project for the Bayonne national scene offers multidisciplinary programming open to the intersection of disciplines and placed under the sign of diversity and multiculturalism, designed in a desire to broaden audiences, to foster the meeting between generations, to create links between local culture and openness to the world. Anxious to get as close as possible to the population, his project plans, through «La 5ème scène», to organize a circulation of works and artists between the different places of the national scene: the Théâtre de Bayonne, the Théâtre Quintaou, the Apollo, the Salle Lauga, Jai Alai, Ravel Auditorium, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church and Urdazuri Gymnasium.

In a requirement of sharing, with artists as with populations, the national scene will be a resource center for professionals and artists accompanied in their research and creation work and their meeting with all audiences.

Damien Godet succeeds Dominique Burucoa, whose minister would like to commend the leadership of the national scene.
