Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, has appointed, by order dated April 9, 2019, Charles Personnaz as Director of the National Heritage Institute.

Charles Personnaz, holder of a DEA of history and former student of the National School of Administration - promotion Léopold Sédar Senghor - began his career in 2004 at the Ministry of Defense, in the direction of memory, heritage and archives, where he serves as Head of the Office for Cultural and Museum Activities

In 2009, he joined the Ministry of Culture as Secretary General of the Direction des Musées de France.

From 2010 to 2012, he was director of the Association de préfiguration de la Maison de l'histoire de France.

After a new stint at the Ministry of Defence between 2012 and 2014, he joined the Court of Auditors as external rapporteur to the third chamber, responsible for the communications sector.

In 2018, he wrote, at the request of the President of the Republic, a report on the strengthening of France’s action in the protection of the Middle East heritage and support for the educational network of Christian communities in the region.

Charles Personnaz succeeds Philippe Barbat, now Director General of Heritage.
