Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, in agreement with Martine Aubry, Mayor of Lille, the Hauts de France Region and Bertrand Riff, President of the Prato Association, has approved the appointment of Célia Deliau as Director of the Prato, Lille National Circus Centre, in accordance with the proposal of the jury held in Lille on Wednesday 16 June.

Director of the Cirque Jules Verne, the national center of the Amiens circus, since 2016, Célia Deliau was previously director of the Arc, the Creusot national stage. In each of her positions, she has carried out projects that are open to multidisciplinary approaches, with an important role for the circus, for the participation of residents from a young age, and for creation in public spaces.

Célia Deliau will develop at the Prato an artistic and cultural project focused on transdisciplinarity around the circus, support for the emergence and accompaniment of artists throughout their professional career. She wishes to share the circus arts with all audiences, especially families and youth, in a constant concern for demand and accessibility. It will deploy its project «in snail» on the territory of Lille but also regional, drawing on the district of Moulins, on those who make it live, but also on an out-of-walls programming that will remain abundant. Strengthening audiences in their spectator experience, by inviting them to mobilize around participatory projects will be an important focus of his project.

She will take up her duties in September 2021, succeeding Gilles Defacque, founding director of Prato, who will enforce her retirement rights. Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin salutes his unwavering commitment, as well as that of Patrica Kapusta, Deputy Director, who have succeeded in making the Prato a place of reference for the contemporary circus, especially for the clown arts.
