Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, announced last January at the Angoulême International Comic Festival that 2020 will be the National Year of Comics with events throughout France.

Jointly organized by the National Book Centre (CNL) and the Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l'image (CIBD), in collaboration with the Book and Reading Services of the Directorate-General for Media and Cultural Industries of the Ministry of Culture, "BD 2020" is now looking for the creator of its official poster and is launching a young talent contest.

From September 11 to October 16, 2019, all authors who have published between one and five comic books are invited to participate in this major competition whose objective is to bring new artists to the fore and give them access to national visibility.

The jury will nominate three winners who will receive awards of €10,000, €5,000 and €2,000 respectively. The winner, whose identity will be unveiled during the month of November, will also have the chance to see his creation become the official visual of this Exceptional Year and thus benefit from an unprecedented highlight of his work.

"For twelve months, comics, rich and popular art will be showcased around many events in our territories. To succeed this year, I wanted to unite all the energies to celebrate French creation and those dedicated to it. This contest is a great opportunity for talents still unknown to meet their audience and highlight their work", Franck Riester, Minister of Culture.
