The Nights of Reading invited this year to Reread the world. From January 21 to 24, 2021, at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, thousands of events were held to highlight bookshops, libraries, authors and all stakeholders in the book industry.

They were so many occasions to celebrate all those who give birth to and live the book and who work to ensure that readers are ever more numerous.

For the Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Les Nuits de la Lecture was an opportunity to meet young fourth-grade students at Bel Air School in Torcy (77), which organized various workshops around literary prizes and students' favourite books. She also visited the Public Information Library and spoke with Hervé Le Tellier, winner of the 2020 Goncourt Prize, ahead of the author’s lecture on humour in literature, organized as part of the Nuits de la lecture.

For four days, events and animations were organized in situ, in compliance with health regulations, by libraries, bookstores and schools. In parallel, thousands of online events, imagined by places as diverse as museums, theatres or operas, have made it possible to attend, at night, comfortably installed from home, a multitude of meetings with authors, theatrical or musical readings and literary performances in particular.

The big quiz: « Questions for a reader », developed in collaboration with the National Library of France - Gallica, the Eurêkoi online question and answer service of the Public Library of Information and the National Book Centre, has also attracted more than 30,000 participants since its launch on January 13.
