For the 5e Year in a row, the Ministry of Culture organizes the forum «Entreprendre dans la Culture» which takes place from 22 to 24 May at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture Paris-Malaquais, then throughout the year in several regions. Its ambition is clear: to support and support cultural entrepreneurs, cultural professionals and students in their development or business creation projects in the cultural sector.

For 3 days, it’s 250 speakers, all experts in their field, who will host 80 round tables and open workshops for more than 2,500 participants (professionals, students, project promoters, entrepreneurs). This forum is an opportunity to provide them with concrete and practical information on financing, international development, and different business models.

This new edition will cover:

-            22 May, the fundamentals of business creation (statutes, social protection and works, financing) as well as two sectoral themes: music and visual arts ;

-            on 23 May, innovation, the digital transition and start-ups as well as two sectoral themes: audiovisual/ cinema and publishing. A sequence of 5 round tables will also be devoted to Africa, in view of the Africa 2020 Cultural Season;

-            24 May, of the social and solidarity economy related to culture and two sectoral themes: live performance and the press.

For the first time, the Forum has a sponsor (Agnes b.) and a sponsor (Franck Annese) embodying the figure of the cultural entrepreneur.

The 2018 edition brought together nearly 2,500 participants and 280 speakers.

The fourth award “IFCIC – Entrepreneurship in Culture”, co-funded by the Institute for Financing Cinema and Cultural Industries (IFCIC) and the Ministry of Culture, was awarded on 22 May, at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, to reward 5 companies or cultural associations that have developed an innovative, original, responsible and sustainable business model or form of organisation.

To anchor the dynamism of the Forum Undertaking in the Culture in the long term and in the territories, events will be organised throughout 2019 by the Regional Cultural Affairs Directorates and the Directorate-General for Media and Cultural Industries, in partnership with local actors and local authorities in 8 French regions: Hauts-de-France, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Grand Est, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Occitanie, Guyane, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and in the Sud-Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.

Supporting cultural entrepreneurs is a strong issue for the Ministry of Culture. In 2015[1], the direct economic weight of culture was 43 billion euros (in value added), representing a share of 2.2% in the economy as a whole. Cultural industries represented 2.3% of the working population in employment. France is also fortunate to have a unique pool of more than 265,000 associations and 160,000 cultural businesses in its territory. Their vitality and dynamism are essential to preserve, defend and embody cultural diversity.
