Since its creation, the Ministry of Culture has been at the initiative of many national events, some of which have expanded to the European level.
Very popular with the general public, these meetings offer all year round access to art and culture.

Poetry, architecture and the discovery of crafts and heritage, national events celebrate all cultural disciplines. A year dedicated to the 9th art, BD 2020.

Spring of the Poets – Courage
March 7-23, 2020
Organized by the National Poetry Centre, Le Printemps des poètes aims to raise awareness of poetry in all its forms. For its 22nd edition, Le Printemps des poètes invites participants across France to celebrate the theme of Courage.    

French Language and La Francophonie Week – Water
March 14-22, 2020
The Semaine de la langue française et de la Francophonie is the meeting place for lovers of words, both in France and abroad. It offers the general public the opportunity to celebrate the French language by expressing its attachment to it and by celebrating its richness and modernity. This year the theme of water will be highlighted.                                                                                                                                                                                     

European Days of Crafts – Materials at work
April 3-13, 2020   
Organized by the National Institute of Crafts, the Journées Européennes des Métiers d'Art is a unique event in the world for a better recognition of the craft sector. These days celebrate the know-how, talents and creativity of professionals in the arts and heritage living around «Materials at work».                                                                  

European Night of Museums

Art History Festival – Fun – Guest Country: Japan

An international event unique in Europe, the Art History Festival has been bringing together art history specialists from around the world and a wide audience around a common passion for the arts since 2011. For the 10th edition, the program will focus on the theme of fun and the guest country of Japan.    

Head to the Gardens – Knowledge Transfer

Rendez-vous aux jardins has been expanding in Europe for three years! The 18th edition will have the theme «The transmission of knowledge». More than 3,000 gardens will open their doors, sometimes exceptionally, and offer visitors more than 6,000 animations set up for this occasion.                                                                                                                                                                                 

European Archaeology Days
June 19-21, 2020          
Coordinated by the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (L'inrap), the European Archaeology Days mobilize all those involved in archaeology and make the public discover the treasures of the heritage and the undersides of the discipline.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

Music festival

This is my heritage! participates in the arts and cultural education of children and adolescents during the school holidays. For its 37th edition, the European Heritage Days will offer citizens of all ages the opportunity to visit the national and European heritage and discover places and buildings that are usually closed or rarely visited.

The architecture is everywhere! These days aim to develop the architectural knowledge of the general public and to arouse the desire for architecture. They also propose to reveal the richness and diversity of the remarkable contemporary architecture.

For its 4th edition, under the sign of «Shares», on Saturday, January 18, 2020, the Night of Reading confirmed its popular success, mobilising more than 650,000 participants of all ages and bringing together more than 6,000 events in France and around 30 countries around the world.
