The 19th edition of the European Night of Museums will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from nightfall until 1 a.m. The Ministry of Culture invites the public to experience the museum for free.
All over Europe, nearly 3,400 museums (including 1,300 in France) will offer a special programme to discover or rediscover their rich collections, through guided tours, fun tours, workshops, screenings but also live entertainment and exceptional animations.
This edition will be punctuated by a selection of eclectic and abundant events that will allow you, for example, to immerse yourself in the sonic and visual universe of the eighteenth century thanks to the performance of Anne Perbal Le Chignon» at the Cognacq-Jay Museum, to participate in a guided tour with the flashlight at the Musée des automates, in Falaise or to attend a «Slow visit» at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Quimper.
Again this year, as part of the “Class, Work!” students will present their work around a work or object preserved in the collections of the museums participating in the operation. Conducted in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and Youth, this device allows students to become, for one night, cultural mediators and to share the artistic and cultural work conducted throughout the year with their teachers.
A real popular success since 2005, The European Night of Museums is a major event that is part of the mission of the Ministry of Culture to democratize access to culture and make accessible to all the richness and diversity of the works of museums.
The European Night of Museums is organized by the Ministry of Culture, with the support of the Regional Directorates for Cultural Affairs (DRAC). It benefits from the patronage of UNESCO, the Council of Europe, ICOM France and numerous institutional partnerships (Ratp, Ffsam, Paris Musées, Phenix Digital, Insert) and media (France Télévision, Radio France, Arte, Histoire TV, TV5 Monde, France Media Monde, Le Figaro, Technikart, Gulli, Beaux-Arts, Toute l'Histoire).
