The Ministry of Culture is inviting everyone to the 18th edition of the European Night of Museums on Saturday, May 14, 2022. Cultural rendezvous and popular success since 2005, the European Night of Museums offers a unique and fun museum experience!

From nightfall until midnight, 3,000 museums across France and Europe will offer a special program to discover or rediscover their rich collections such as the Order of Liberation Museum, in Paris, by following actors representing great figures of the Second World War, the Museum of the former bishopric, in Grenoble, by investigating the traces of a ghost, escaping the guards and sowing terror, or the Museum of Art and Archaeology of the Périgord, in Périgueux, through a treasure hunt to lead as a family to find a chest full of gold coins.

This 2022 edition will make it possible to find the path of museums for free.

Again this year, as part of the “Class, Work!” students will present their creations around a work or object preserved in the collections of the museums participating in the operation. Conducted in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports, this device allows students to become, for one night, cultural mediators and to share the artistic and cultural work conducted throughout the year with their teachers.

In order to ensure the safety of visitors and participating teams, the European Museum Night will be held in accordance with the health protocols in force in each territory at the time of the event.

The European Night of Museums is organised by the Ministry of Culture, in particular the Regional Directorates for Cultural Affairs (DRAC). It benefits from the patronage of UNESCO, the Council of Europe, ICOM France and numerous institutional partnerships (Ratp, Ffsam, Paris Musées, Phenix Digital, Insert) and media (France Télévision, Radio France, Arte, TV5 Monde, France Media Monde, Le Figaro, Technikart, Konbini, 20 minutes, Gulli, Beaux-Arts, Toute l'Histoire, Parents, Detours in France).
