It’s a big radio voice that just went out.
Pierre Bouteiller was a man of passion, humanism and culture, a fan of music and jazz in particular. As a journalist, program designer and then director of channels, whether it be Europe 1, TSF Jazz, France Inter or France Musique, Pierre Bouteiller has always invested himself with extraordinary intensity in this mission that he considered so important: to transmit and share, in the service of the public, with intelligence and sensitivity.
He embodied that freedom of tone, that irreverence, which makes radio such a popular medium and appreciated by the French. We remember his programs, “Carnet de notes”, “Au bénéfice du doute” or “Le Masque et la plume”, which, in the 1960s, completely renewed the way they addressed the French.
Audrey Azoulay, Minister of Culture and Communication, extends her deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.
