The Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA), the General Directorate of Media and Cultural Industries (DGMIC) of the Ministry of Culture, the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC), the Association des Chaînes Conventionnées éditeurs de Services (access.) and the National Union of Television Advertising (SNPTV) have once again teamed up to publish the fifteenth edition of the Guide to Digital Channels. The development of this guide has been coordinated by the Moonlight Agency.
This guide, a working tool for media professionals, provides a complete description of the universe of French channels authorized for free or paid broadcasting on DTT or under CSA agreements. It thus makes it possible to measure the great richness of the offer of digital channels in France as well as the diversity of distribution networks.
Its first part presents the supply of channels, their reception and distribution methods, their audiences, their economic performance, their investment in production and a presentation of the legal news of 2016. In the annex, a summary of actions in favour of social cohesion and the fight against discrimination in the field of audiovisual communication as well as key figures on the development of pay television.
The second part presents, in the form of cards, 135 channels authorized or agreed upon by Médiamétrie. Their positioning, the networks on which they are broadcast, the share of the different types of programs they program, and their advertising management are all well-informed.
The preparation of this guide has been largely based on statistics, reports and studies carried out by the CSA, the Ministry of Culture and the CNC.
