Audrey Azoulay, Minister of Culture and Communication, has launched a national photographic commission on the theme «Youth in France».

In resonance with the major orders of the State in the field of photography, this project aims to encourage the vitality of contemporary creation in the field of photography and to constitute a documentary corpus on this ambitious and resolutely open theme.

The Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP), in partnership with the association CéTàVoir in Sète, invites photographers to take up this theme of “Youth in France” with a view to echoing the diversity of these terms.

The call for applications will select 15 photographers who will receive 10,000 euro in funding to carry out their project. This will include remuneration for authors and payment of copyright. Image production will be supported by the CéTaVoir association.

A selection of prints by each photographer will lead to the publication of a book and a restitution of their work through an exhibition in March 2017.

As a national artistic commission, the works produced as part of the photographic commission «La jeunesse en France». join the National Contemporary Art Fund, a collection managed by the National Centre for Visual Arts.

This public order is part of a voluntary initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Communication in favour of photography and completes the first call for projects launched on July 12, 2016 on the theme “Les regards du Grand Paris”.

Applications are open until November 4, 2016. More information on the ministry’s website: http://www.culturecommunication.gouv.fr/Politiques-ministerielles/Arts-plastiques/Actualites/Commande-photographique-sur-la-jeunesse
